CREATIVITY DAY CAMP AGENDA
8:30 AM — Coffee and light snacks
8:45 – 10:15 AM — Session 1: “Behind-the-Scenes Tour of MMNS, Meet the Animals, and Scavenger Hunt,” by Ericka Ligon
Ericka will show us what goes on behind the scenes at MMNS in this fun walkthrough. One of the longtime volunteers at MMNS will bring out some animals for us to enjoy and tell us about his service. Throughout the tour, participate in a scavenger hunt of volunteer topics, themes, and resources inside the museum!
10:15 – noon — Session 2: “The Platinum Rule: A Motivation Conversation,” by Michele Baker, CVA
Use your creative writing to improve your recruitment and retention strategies for personal motivation style (Achievement, Affiliation and Power), interaction preference (Introvert and Extravert) and the 5 Volunteer Love Languages (Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Physical Touch, Quality Time, Acts of Service).
12:00 – 12:30 PM — Lunch and Networking (boxed lunches from local restaurant)
+ Sweet tea, Unsweet tea, Lemonade and Water
12:30 – 2:00 PM — Session 3: “Team Building & Telling Your Story: Three Tiny Objects,” by Sarah Gayden Hammond
Sarah Gayden will lead the group in a fun and creative storytelling project focused on a random assortment of tiny items. This exercise will help you frame the story of your volunteer program. Choose three tiny items and write about them, then share your creation with the group!
2:00 – 3:30 PM — Session 4: “Vision Boards: Creating a New or More Fun & More Productive Volunteer Program,” by Fran Baker
Please bring some old magazines!
DOVIA will provide the cardboard, scissors, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, glitter and more… we’re going to envision your Ideal Volunteer Program! Each person will have the opportunity to create a Vision Board to create a graphic representation of your new-and-improved volunteer program! Share your vision and get input from the group to make the vision even more impactful.
3:30 – 3:45 PM — 5-Minute Evaluation, Clean Up & Adjourn
